No. 1189 is built around reading a real Bible, whichever one you already own. Open the app, mark the chapter or range you just read, and you're done in a few seconds. The built-in reader is there for the moments you want it, not a requirement.
The Berean Standard Bible, the World English Bible, and the King James Version, all bundled with the app so reading works offline.
Read means you read the chapter. Studied means you read it and went deeper, whether that's study notes, a commentary, or a word study. Studied counts as read too, and the map shows both.
No. There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no feed. Your reading lives in your own iCloud, which is also what keeps it in step across your iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
You start again. Every pass through all 1,189 chapters is kept, and nothing you've read is ever erased, so over the years you can see how many times you've read each book.

Yes. The public beta is open on TestFlight, Apple's free app for testing pre-release software, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Everything you read and journal in the beta carries over when you install the App Store version. One thing that doesn't: Pro is unlocked for free during testing, so you'll be back on the free tier at launch unless you subscribe then.
